During a Cranio-sacral session, the therapists hands remain in one place for up to several minutes. The therapist listens to the subtle movements in the body that are thought to be caused by the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid that moves through and all around your brain and spinal cord. We then use our hands to follow this movement and provide gentle input to encourage balance and health in the whole body, as well as to release restrictions in specific areas.
Cranio-sacral Therapy (CST) can positively impact a large variety of conditions. Either on its own or as a small part of a larger massage session, it encourages a deep sense of wholeness and integration.
Some conditions I have addressed using CST:
Relaxation & Maintenance
Massage helps reduce muscle tension and soreness, prevent injury, support the health of joints, increase local circulation, and stimulate tissue repair. Receiving massage regularly has been shown to boost your immune system, and taking the time to relax deeply supports your health and wellness.
I will design a session tailored to your specific treatment needs and goals. Some techniques I often draw from are:
Deep Tissue Massage
Connective Tissue Massage (CTM, known as Bindegewebsmassage)
Pregnancy & Post-partum Massage
It has been wonderful to see many people for massage throughout their pregnancy and also in the first weeks, months and years of being parents. Besides helping with tension and aches and pains, relaxation benefits both mom and baby while preparing you mentally and physically for the birth. I normally work with the pregnant client in a side-lying position, with body cushions to allow for maximum comfort. Postpartum massage supports your body and mind in adjusting after going through this major transition.
